Big Brother Series 2

Stuart

Stroppy Stuart Hosking was finally booted out of the Big Brother house - with a staggering 860,000 votes. The wealthy father of three was given the elbow by 86 per cent of the one million viewers who phoned in.

Stuart tried to put on a brave face, shouting: "Yes - excellent! I'm going home." And he hugged fellow nominee 25-year-old Paul Clarke, who was in drag for a bet.

Marketing executive Stuart had antagonised his housemates and viewers by reducing two of the girls to tears during drunken arguments. He told Amma to "shut up" and accused her of being shallow - prompting her to scream: "I hate him. I hope the whole f****** country votes him out on Friday." And earlier he had a bust-up with girls' school teacher Penny who was the first to be evicted from the house. Tipsy Penny branded him a "f****** a*******" after he told the group he would sleep with all the girls except her.

Viewers were shocked later when Stuart refused to accept her apology, insisting: "I am completely offended."

Stuart was also miffed when Josh arrived in the house with a more tanned and toned body last week. Lamborghini-driving Stuart had missed his family while in the Channel 4 house and had to record a birthday message for his son Rory's second birthday.

But he walked into a row with neighbours when he arrived back at his new home in the village of Murcott, Oxfordshire. His wife and children moved into a 400,000 bungalow, set in nine acres, last week - and he had left instructions for workmen to shield the home with an ugly 6 feet high fence.

One local said: "Perhaps he thinks he is such a celebrity he will need to be protected from hordes of screaming fans. But the bungalow is half a mile from the nearest house, so there is absolutely no need. It had glorious views over buttercup meadows, fields and copses - now the only view will be the back of a bloody great fence. Maybe in the Big Brother house he got used to being penned in"
