Big Brother tried to ramp up the ratings by awarding Helen and Paul a romantic dinner for two in the nookie room complete with glassfuls of wine. This was supposedly because they achieved some task set by Big Brother but we know the real reasons, don't we? After the meal Helen threw her arms around Paul - and the hearts of the Channel 4 executives started thumping. Had the moment finally arrived? Over a million eyes watched their exploits on a digital channel called E4 that no-one had even heard of a few months ago.

Helen told Paul "I love you" during the dinner and then asked: "Can you imagine having a Big Brother baby?"

Paul backed off, telling Helen: "I don't know if I would trust you."

As the passion increased Helen, well under the effects of the wine, sat on Paul's lap and flung her arms round him before confessing her love. Paul swept her up in his arms and threw her down on the pile of cushions before having second thoughts, saying: "That's not cool is it? That's getting totally out of hand. Down boy! I think you and Big G have got something really special and I don't want that to be jeopardised. I'm confused by the way I feel about you. I don�t know if I would trust you. Sorry, that's just the way it is."

But Helen pleaded with him: "I would trust you with my life now. Can you imagine you and me walking down the aisle together? Having a Big Brother baby?"

To the disappointment of viewers across the country, Paul then claimed he was tired and the couple left the nookie room and went back to join the others.

But the lovers' chat continued later when Helen joined Paul and Brian in the boys' bedroom. She told Paul: "I don't want you to back off." When asked how serious she was about Big G she said: "It's on and off. I've had to deal with him and girls he works with going out for the night so I don�t know what the problem is."

A record 626,000 live viewers tuned in to digital channel E4 after 11pm to see if Paul and Helen would have sex beating both Channel 4 and Channel 5. But a Big Brother insider said: "Paul knows viewers may turn against him if he steals somebody else's girlfriend."

And the others know they have to nominate both Paul and Helen for eviction next Tuesday if they want to get either of them out of the house.

Paul and Helen's latest bout of flirting saw the pair discussing the size of his willy. Helen caught a glimpse of Paul naked and happily told him that it was at least four inches long, delighting the Ford car designer. Later Paul, bragged to housemates: "I'm one of these people that when erect, it becomes like shockingly bigger. Know what I mean?"

Paul has survived eviction for once and did not mince his words words when he nominated Josh for eviction. He said: "There's a bit of a poncey, slimy side to him. He's very competitive. I don't think he's been honest with his sexuality."

He had looked apprehensive as the nominations were announced, but was visibly relieved when he realised that for the first time in weeks he was in the clear. He said: "Excuse me. Where's my name?"

But he was very concerned about how Helen was coping. "You'll be fine," he told her confidently. Helen - who has a steady boyfriend, Gavin "Big G" Cox - was nominated hours after a sneaky canoodle with Paul. When the boys made Brian squeal in distress by teasing him in the early hours, she dashed into their room and leapt straight on to Paul's bed. Under cover of the darkness, and with the others concentrating on ribbing Brian, the pair held hands and stroked each other's arms. Big Brother's infra-red camera zoomed in. Earlier in the day they were flirting in the garden and Paul tickled Helen's feet until she screamed. Josh warned them: "The whole world thinks something's going on."

There has been rising sexual chemistry between the two. Helen told Elizabeth: "It's weird in here because you forget the outside world." Elizabeth warned her: "You've got to be careful, especially with the opposite sex."

Bookies are taking bets on how far Helen and Paul will go before 10pm on Friday. They are offering 2/1 on the couple snogging in the garden love shack, 5/1 on their getting naked in the jacuzzi and 7/1 on their either taking a shower together or spending a night in the same bed.

Paul and Bubble both said they are prepared to have sex on screen. Paul told show bosses he once had a threesome and was prepared to have group sex on live TV. The computer design wizard, of Reading, Berks, has already shared a steamy kiss with housemate Penny Ellis, 33, at the Big Brother house in Bow, East London. And he claimed he was "game for anything" at auditions for the game show in April.

One hopeful who dropped out of the trials after bosses asked too many saucy questions, said: "Paul�s got no hang-ups at all. "We were asked if we�d ever had a threesome and Paul said �I�ve done one� and laughed. And when the bosses asked if he�d have sex on screen with a few people he said �definitely�. He told me that if anyone is up for it in the house, he�d be more than happy to do it. His strategy is to be a real lad and win the blokes� votes."

Paul has already boasted of his success in the sack. He said: "I�m hung like a donkey and can hump like a rabbit."

Paul has declared his undying love for hairdresser Helen - and sent her fleeing for cover. He persuaded her to join him for a private chat in the bedroom then said: "I really fancy the pants off you."

But then Helen retorted: "I don't fancy you, though." And moments later she screamed and bolted outside when he jokingly tried to climb on top of her.

Paul, 25, refused to give in, running after her with outstretched arms, shouting: "Helen, I love you." He had just spent days chatting her up, prompting gossip among the housemates that romance was in the air. Paul made his first move by massaging sun lotion into Helen's back. The next day he pointed to a model in a magazine and gushed: "That looks just like you, babe." Minutes later Helen spotted another semi-naked model and squealed: "They are like my breasts, they are."

Paul replied: "Of course they are, babe. I told you your breasts were fantastic."
